There are multiple medical conditions that have unique nutritional requirements. Raw and home cooked diets require adjustments to accommodate the differences. However, therapeutic diets are not intended to replace veterinary care nor will they cure medical conditions. They are intended to slow down the disease process and improve overall quality of life when combined with appropriate medical interventions directed by a veterinarian.
The complete transition process is spread over three months to make the process as simple and easy as possible. This prevents pet parents from feeling confused and overwhelmed with the learning curve of feeding a home prepared diet. Additionally, the dog’s potential for gastrointestinal stress is reduced because each step is customized to their individual needs.
The program also includes the appropriate whole foods and supplements to fulfill known nutritional gaps in home prepared diets.
The first month of the mentorship program is focused on slowly transitioning from processed dog food to bland fresh food. A sudden and dramatic change in diet can result in gastrointestinal distress. Therefore, the canine nutritionist will instruct each pet parent on how to slowly and gradually transition to fresh food to avoid the complications from a sudden diet change. This will involve introducing and increasing fresh food while slowly reducing the processed dog food.
Each dog will be consuming a fresh food diet composed of a lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and high fiber at the end of month one.
The second month of the mentorship program begins introducing the foundation ingredients necessary to create a home prepared ratio diet. Prey Model Raw (PMR) and Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (BARF) are the ratio diets the pet parent can select from. The canine nutritionist will instruct each pet parent on how to introduce ingredients such as red meats, liver and other organs to expand the variety in the diet.
Each dog will be consuming a basic home prepared diet following PMR or BARF model ratios at the end of month two.
The third month of the mentorship program will finish the transition process by introducing specific whole foods and supplements. These ingredients provide the essential nutrients required for optimal health that are often missing from homemade ratio diets. These ingredients can include but are not limited to fatty fish, shellfish, seeds, kelp or alternative supplements.
Each dog will be consuming a well rounded homemade ratio diet with additional whole foods and supplements at the end of the mentorship program.

The mentorship program does not provide raw dog food. All ingredients must be purchased by the pet parent separately.
The mentorship program is designed to empower pet parents to successfully switch their dog to a fresh food diet with one-on-one email guidance from a certified canine nutritionist. The program will provide the appropriate knowledge to begin fresh feeding in a guided three month process. This information is provided in three ways:
A slow transition guide is provided in month 1, a full transition guide is provided in month 2, and a ratio diet with whole foods and supplement dosages are provided in month 3.
The pet parent has one hour of email support per month of the mentorship program. Therefore, a total of three total hours is provided for the pet parent to ask the canine nutritionist questions while their dog undergoes the transition process.
Exclusive access is provided to our Ratio Diet Calculator for pet parents to use for 1 year after the completion of the mentorship program.
Each pet parent will experience the confidence needed to feed a well balanced home prepared diet.
The Ratio Menu Calculator provides pet parents with the resources they need to feed a varied ratio diet without having to recalculate feeding amounts when ingredients are changed. The spreadsheet works on Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel to calculate ratio ingredients, whole foods, and supplements at the dog’s individual dosages.
Muscle meat, raw meaty bones, organs, and produce are calculated based on the ratio percentages selected for each ingredient. However, home prepared ratio diets are known to have multiple nutrient deficiencies. The calculator also includes the addition of specific whole foods and supplements that are required to fulfill these nutritional requirements. The Ratio Menu Calculator is not a formulation program and does not formulate NRC balanced recipes.
The program accepts adult dogs who are currently consuming a dry or canned dog food. The program does not accept cats, kittens, puppies or dogs who have medical conditions that require a therapeutic diet.
